This tour ensures you see and experience a lot in one exciting day.
Highlights
1. Icefields Parkway
Renowned as one of the most scenic drives in the world, the Icefields Parkway features over 100 ancient glaciers, cascading waterfalls, dramatic rock spires, and emerald lakes nestled in sweeping valleys filled with dense pine and larch forests. The abundance of wildlife in Banff and Jasper National Parks will keep you looking around every bend. As we leisurely explore the area, we'll stop for short hikes to breathtaking viewpoints, capture stunning photos to share with friends, and enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the pristine wilderness of the Canadian Rockies. Rest assured, you're experiencing the Icefields Parkway the right way! We'll visit all the popular spots listed below, along with some lesser-known local secrets that often become the highlights of our guests' day.
2. Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre.
These vast "fields of ice" span Banff and Jasper National Parks and are the largest south of the Arctic Circle, covering 325 km² and up to 365 meters deep, with annual snowfall up to seven meters. Our group will walk up to the retreating glacier and explore its receding path. This tour doesn't include the Pursuit Skywalk or Icefields Adventure bus trip; instead, we visit lesser-known spots and viewpoints via easy trails for a more authentic experience. Those opting out of the hike can enjoy the Columbia Icefields Centre's facilities and activities.
3. Bow Lake
The vibrant blue Bow Lake is the source of the Bow River, which flows through Lake Louise, Banff, Calgary, and across Canada to Hudson Bay. Located along the Icefields Parkway, Bow Lake is ideal for a walk down to the shore, offering views of Crowfoot Glacier, Wapta Icefield, Bow Glacier, Crowfoot Mountain, and Mount Thompson.
4. Weeping Wall
A mountain that cries?! Located at Cirrus Mountain, the Weeping Wall resembles a mountain with a river of tears. More than 100 meters high (330 feet) water cascades in a series of jaw-dropping waterfalls
5. Peyto Lake
The uniquely shaped, glacier-fed Peyto Lake is one of the most visited and photographed lakes in the Canadian Rockies, and for good reason. In summer, glacial rock flour flows into the lake, giving it a brilliant turquoise color. We'll take an easy walk to Bow Summit, 2,088 meters (6,800 feet) above sea level, for a stunning view of the lake. Bow Summit, the highest point on the Icefields Parkway, is also the highest elevation crossed by a public road in Canada.
